Stopping Abuse and Female Exploitation (SAFE): Formative Research Report

Cover page of document.
Date published

This formative research report is useful to understand prevalent gendered social norms in Zimbabwe, the particular experiences of the most at risk women and girls, and the nature of formative research to inform programme design on VAWG prevention. To inform the SAFE programme design, formative research looked at three questions:

  • What are the main pathways connecting household economic stress, gender and social norms, and GBV (primarily intimate partner violence [IPV] and child marriage) at the household level in focal districts, and how are different members of the household affected?
  • In what ways do survivors respond to IPV or child marriage, and why?
  • In what ways do the experiences of women and girls with multiple and intersecting vulnerabilities differ to those of other women and girls experiencing IPV or child marriage?
