Rose Caldwell is a member of Social Development Direct board and CEO of Plan International UK. She has over 20 years’ experience in senior roles in the not for profit sector having spent ten years as Executive Director of Concern Worldwide UK.
A qualified chartered accountant by training, Rose spent the first ten years of her career in the private sector. However, her experience as a volunteer on Raleigh International in Zimbabwe and with Concern Worldwide in Burundi the 1990s ignited a desire and commitment to working to address inequality and poverty. During her leadership at Concern, Rose increased the organisations resources available to tackle extreme poverty and brought to the forefront Concern Worldwide (UK)’s focus on hunger and malnutrition.
Driven by her experience of working overseas with Concern Worldwide in emergency contexts, Rose also ensured that the organisation played a key role in responding to those who are worst affected by the increasing number and scale of humanitarian crises.
Rose has previously worked as a management consultant, as the Finance Director of a mental health charity and as Assistant Director for the Refugee Housing Association. Rose is currently on the Board of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and Chair of Trustees of the International Broadcasting Trust (IBT). Rose has three children and is actively involved in her community.
