Rebekah is our Climate Justice Lead and a Senior Technical Specialist with a particular focus on our Governance and Inclusive Societies Portfolio. She provides technical support on disability inclusion, gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) analysis and mainstreaming, governance, voice and accountability, and safeguarding. Since joining SDDirect in 2019, She has worked as a GESI advisor on multi-year governance programmes including the UK Aid Connect-supported Evidence and Collaboration for Inclusive Development (ECID) programme, and as a researcher with the Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness Programme (STAR-Ghana). Rebekah is also the thematic lead on climate justice for SDDirect, working to ensure gender equality and social inclusion is at the centre of responses to the climate crisis.
Prior to joining SDDirect, she worked on key issues affecting most excluded groups, including climate change and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). At MSI Reproductive Choices, she worked on improving clinical governance in SRHR programmes across Africa, Asia and Latin America. At the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Rebekah supported the policy and advocacy efforts of a South-South forum of countries particularly vulnerable to climate change to call for more ambitious global climate action in the Paris Agreement and beyond.
Rebekah holds an MA in Gender and International Development from the University of Warwick, where she received the John Rex prize for the best overall performance in the department, and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of York.
