Lucia is a Senior Technical Specialist in Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEL) and Research. In her capacity, she delivers a range of cross-cutting gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) related MEL and research projects across SDDirect portfolios. Lucia is adept at designing, establishing and implementing MEL systems, having recently done so for the Resource and Support Hub in Eastern Europe and the Türkiye-Syria Hub, as part of the Disasters Emergency Committee-funded Ukraine and Türkiye-Syria responses. Lucia also played key roles on several contracts with United Nations agencies, including regional and corporation UNICEF gender evaluations, as well as PSEAH/safeguarding projects for IOM, WFP, and for WHO. Additionally, she has experience working for FCDO, for example contributing to the Promoting Equalities Regional Programme inception phase and Disability Inclusion Helpdesk.
Lucia brings a wealth of M&E, research and project management skills honed through her roles in organisations in the private and non-profit sectors, as well as multilateral organisations. Her professional journey includes positions at Ecorys, Innovations for Poverty Action Peru, Malawi’s United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, Bissau Economics Lab, and ENGIM Internazionale, spanning across the UK, Malawi, Guinea-Bissau, and El Salvador.
Lucia holds an MA in International Development from Sciences Po, where she was earned an Advanced Certification in Gender Studies, and a BA in Political, Social and International Sciences from the University of Bologna. She is fluent in Italian (native), Spanish, Portuguese, and English, and has basic proficiency in Bissau-Guinean Creole and French.
