Celine is a social scientist, with more than 20 years of professional experience in Social Development, Gender, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, with a special focus on violence against women and girls (VAWG).
She worked with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and United Nations Agencies (UNFPA, UNDP, UNAIDS, IOM), both as staff and as consultant. She has also supported NGOs, local, provincial and national Governments, mainly in West, Southern and Eastern Africa (South-Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo), as well as in Pakistan and in various European countries on health.
She enjoys working at the cross-roads between research and practice, with a special interest for mentoring and technical support roles. She also led situation analysis, qualitative research (formative and evaluative), data analysis, as well as research uptake and knowledge management initiatives. She designed and managed programmes and M&E systems, developed and facilitated capacity-building activities with various actors, ranging from CBOs to regional policy makers. Finally, she contributed to the development and evaluation of strategies and policies on gender and SRHR.
She has recently conducted several sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and VAWG programmes evaluation for UNFPA, and currently works for SDDirect as an International VAWG Advisor on a 4-year Foreign Development and Commonwealth Office (FCDO) funded VAWG prevention and response programme in Zimbabwe. She has co-led the design of this innovative pilot intervention combining social and economic empowerment as well as the development of a prevention manual. She is now supporting implementation in three hard-to-reach areas. During the COVID 19 crisis, she set-up and managed a Technical Assistance Facility to support NGOs and other stakeholders to adapt their VAWG response and prevention programmes.
She is fluent in English and a native French-speaker and has always worked in a multicultural environment, which allows her to develop qualities of adaptability and flexibility. She was based in South-Africa for 18 years (2003-2021), before relocating to France in Bordeaux with her two daughters and partner. She never misses her yoga classes, enjoys biking, hiking and photography.
