Alix Clark is the Head of Portfolio for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) at Social Development Direct. She has extensive experience in MEL, having worked in programmatic and institutional MEL, system level MEL and across several evaluations. She has worked in gender equality and social development for 10 years, bringing strong GEDSI expertise to MEL Alix has worked across a range of thematic subjects including; girls education, safeguarding, violence against women and girls, women’s economic empowerment and women, peace and security (WPS).  

Alix has worked across a range of contracts at SDDirect in her MEL capacity including on FCDO funded Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub (RSH) as Joint Evidence and Research Lead and on the Conflict Stability and Security Fund Global MEL contract where she contributed GESI expertise to the MEL ecosystem. Alix has worked on evaluation teams, most recently as Deputy team lead on the Evaluation of UNICEF’s Gender Action Plan and Gender Policy and previously within a team delivering a Thematic Assessment of the Spotlight Initiative. She has held long term positions in fund managers; on the Girls Education Challenge (GEC) Fund Manager where she worked as an Evaluation Officer and on the Work and Opportunities for Women (WOW) fund where she provided MEL advisory support to grantees.  

Alix brings substantial experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, inclusive, feminist MEL and participatory methods, MEL capacity development and has experience in measuring social norms/behaviour change.  She has a BSc in Economics and a MSc in Development Economics, and previous experience working for NGOs. During her time at SDDirect Alix has developed an interest and passion for inclusive facilitation and feminist leadership, she tries wherever possible to create opportunities to test and develop her skills in these areas.

Outside of work, Alix enjoys cooking and learning new culinary skills and exploring the great outdoors.
