Sharene is a Programmes Manager at SDDirect and has extensive experience managing international development and humanitarian programmes.
Since joining SDDirect she has provided project management support to a wide range of projects with a focus on the Security, Justice and Peacebuilding; Governance and Inclusive Societies; and Gender-based Violence portfolios. Her projects have included the Girls Education Challenge, the Stopping Abuse and Female Exploitation programme (SAFE), and the Malawi VAWG programme. In her role, Sharene is responsible for the management of projects to budget and schedule. She has experience of working with a variety of donors across the public and private sectors and in multiple different contexts. At SD Direct she has also been involved in initiatives to improve internal processes around duty of care and travel in insecure environments and also co-authored the ‘How to Guidance Note on Gender Equality’ for DFID and wider HMG staff.
Prior to SDDirect Sharene worked for a humanitarian NGO on an EU Humanitarian Operations funded safeguarding and security capacity building programme and was responsible for project administration, logistics, monitoring and evaluation and donor reporting.
Sharene has a BA in International Development and a Project Management for International Development qualification (PMD Pro). Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, climbing, cycling and board games.
